Abstract

A vibrant, shell-dweller from the Rift Lakes

The Telmatochromis sp. Temporalis is a vibrant cichlid from Lake Tanganyika. It is unique for its affinity for large shells to live in and defend. It is a moderately aggressive fish and prefers a species only tank or one with compatible cichlids of the same attitude. They love to dig, so consider sand or fine substrate to see them exhibit their natural behavior. Along with living in shells, they are also excellent parents and will raise approximately 20-30 young at a time. These fish are worth the dive into cichlids!
