Habitat and behaviour: The spotted copeina thrives in clean water with dense plants and lower lighting (or the use of floating plants in high light systems). These fish are classifed as peaceful but can be boisterous ,sometimes chasing or folowing smaller tank mates, and should be housed with similarly sized tetras and non or semi agressive fish that also live and thrive in planted environment with plenty of spaces to hide and feel protected. Diet: The spotted Copeina are micropredators and like the ability to hunt small invertebrates. In a home aquarium baby brine shrimp can simulate this natural feeding process and can be supplemented with flake food. They are active fish that prefer to continuously explore and hunt. Breeding: The males of this species grow larger than females. They are egg layers that usually deposit eggs onto the broad leaves of plants that must be removed or protected to ensure they are able to hatch. The young spotted copeina enjoy baby brine shrimp and supplemental feedings of rotifers and other microrganisms that are often naturally occuring in a planted aquarium.
